+ News :: Queensland Glass receives the 2016 AGGA Award for Glazing Safety

Queensland Glass was recently announced the winner of the 2016 AGGA Award for Glazing Safety. This Award recognizes excellence in developing and implementing a solution to an identified health and safety issue.

Queensland Glass developed a safety program in response to the incidence rate of musculoskeletal injuries, particularly the lifting of heavy panels of glass into elevators and awkward positions.

The Armour Safety Program consists of a three-pronged program;

  • A Manual Handling Training Program which included a DVD development overseen by a musculoskeletal specialist,
  • Development of an APP for Smart Devices that manages all safety documentation in real time and;
  • An Online Training Program and manual handling training for all staff.

The panel discussed the nomination and agreed that this three-pronged program demonstrated its effectiveness and usefulness from a safety outcome perspective by way of the highly desired and attained injury rate of 0 (zero) over the period July 2015 to June 2016.
